Training: Communities Not Cages

Prepare for the National Day of Action

When:
April 14, 7:00–8:00pm CT
Where:
Online

The warehousing of human beings is a hallmark of authoritarian regimes. These procurements are a threat to the basic human rights of our immigrant neighbors and the due process rights of everyone in this country.

There's a role for everyone to play in blocking and opposing these mass detention centers, whether you're in a community with a proposed warehouse facility or not. We'll make sure you leave with everything you need to take action on April 25 and beyond.

You’ll hear directly from organizers at a frontline site about what they're planning, receive resources to find out if a detention center is being planned in your area, and get tools and support to host a safe, peaceful and effective event in your community.

Our partners will host six major events at frontline sites — communities where new detention centers are actively being proposed. We’re also asking folks to host visible, peaceful, non-violent actions in your own communities to draw attention to the cruelty of Trump’s detention agenda and to pressure our local officials to resist the construction of new detention centers.

When:
May 1, 4:30–6:00pm
Where:
City Hall
Duluth, MN

"Join us this May Day as we organize against the billionaire control of our economy and government. From Trump on down, billionaires have too much power, and it's time for workers to take it from them. They pit us against each other as we fight for the few good jobs they allow us, and they pit us against each other as they send us to bomb people in other countries, using money that could be spent on schools, healthcare, homes and infrastructure."

Support Warren & Sanders' Wealth Tax Bills

Add your name

Two major proposals have just been introduced in Congress, by Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. Both would tax the richest of the rich on their wealth (annually at 2% to 5%) and direct trillions toward supporting working Americans.

Two Bold Proposals to Tax Wealth Across the Land

"How can the U.S. reverse democracy-distorting concentrations of wealth and power? A federal annual wealth tax must be part of the equation.

"The richest 0.1 percent — the top one-thousandth of households, who are all worth over $50 million — have seen their wealth surge since the beginning of the 2020 Covid Pandemic. U.S. billionaires have seen their wealth double since 2019, with the top 19 U.S. billionaires adding $1 trillion to their wealth in 2024 alone."

Oppose the SAVE Act

Write to your Legislators

..."if anything like this ever did become law, the cleanest single document would likely be a valid U.S. passport in your current legal name, because it proves citizenship directly. A REAL ID driver’s license would not, by itself, count as proof of citizenship under this proposal. People with name changes could be forced to assemble a full paper trail connecting birth certificates, marriage licenses, divorce decrees, or court orders to their current legal identity."

Do States Have a Secret Weapon to Counter Trump's Forest Service and Medicaid Cuts Before the Damage Becomes Permanent?

& will the corporate overlords allow it?

"The federal government announced the destruction of the United States Forest Service via the same process of royal decree that this nation was founded on ending. So much for originalism, right? No floor debate, no public hearing, no vote. Just a piece of paper that ended 121 years of institutional history before most people had finished their coffee.

"The forests are one emergency. The health care system is another. The reconciliation bill that Republicans passed last year and that the president signed into law on July 4, 2025 cut more than a trillion dollars from Medicaid and ACA marketplace coverage.

"So here is what governors in blue states can do right now, using authority they already hold..."

Make the Refusal to Quit Go Viral

from the Anti-Authoritarian Playbook

"We’re not exhausted. We’re seasoned. There’s a difference."

"The refusal to give up will not go viral because we broadcast it. It will go viral because we build the conditions for complex contagion: dense, trusted, overlapping communities where people witness the refusal in people they know, again and again, until it becomes who they are too.

"Build those communities. Make them joyful. Address the loneliness. Celebrate the small wins. Tell the stories of the people who refused. Create the ritual. Demonstrate, in how you operate, that the democratic alternative is not grim.

"The demonstration is the argument. The community is the mechanism. The refusal is the product."
